Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, January 11: Seo Jeoung-min from Korea has a one shot lead at the halfway mark of the Final Stage of the OneAsia Qualifying School.
Seo, joint leader at the start of the day with a 67 along with Japan’s Masao Nakajima, fired a second four-under-par 67.
He lies on eight-under-par 134 at Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club.
His compatriot Song Young-han is a stroke further behind after also returning 67.
Korean Kim Gi-whan is in third place two behind the leader following a 67.
Nakajima shot a 74 to fall back in a tie for 15th on one under.
They are in a strong position to secure one of the 20 plus OneAsia cards.
With at least 14 tournaments on OneAsia this season offering an overall purse of nearly US$16 million the stakes are high for the entrants.
Many will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year’s Qualifying School winner Han Chang-won.
The Korean teenager claimed the Qualifying School by six strokes and went on to finish seventh on the money list with earnings of US$135,078.
The OneAsia season starts with the US$1 million Indonesia Open, to be played from March 15 to 18.
