Exciting times are ahead for Chinese golf and China's Hu Mu knows this well.
Young gun Hu Mu, who played college golf in the United States before embarking on his pro career this year, believes that regular competition on OneAsia has helped Chinese players improve their games.
"OneAsia provides Chinese golfers with a lot more tournament opportunities than they had before. There is no doubt about that," he said.
"As a result, everybody is getting better and better and playing well in tournaments. Golf is still young in China and the professional players are still getting used to the travel and the courses.
"But you can see they are improving and playing better golf which is encouraging for Chinese golf.
"I think it takes a lot of time, maybe years, to develop the kind of golfers that we need. We need more junior golfers to pick up the game in order to have one or two or many Liang Wenchongs coming up," said the Shen Zhen-born golfer.
Hu started playing golf at the age of seven after his parents brought him to the golf course.
"It is hard to find a nice environment in the city because everywere is so crowded and the golf course is a perfect place to hang around," said Hu, who likes to spend his free time at home.
It was a slow progress for his love in the game of golf. "I didn't like it right away, but over the years as I play, I grew to love it," confessed the 21-year-old, who considers his iron and putting his strengths.
Hu, who stays at the top of his game with lots of practice and by playing in competitions, said that there isn't really an inspiration for him, although he looks up to his dad a lot.
"Actually, I am not good at coping with pressure. You can't really think too much, and try your best staying at the present."
Hu also had to make some sacrifices in the pursuit of his career. "I had to quit school as there was not enough time for golf. That was last year when I was 20," explained the former Business Geography student.
The sporty young man said he tries to occupy his time with other activities that he enjoys, such as playing soccer, ping pong, tennis and snowboarding. He is a also a self-proclaimed watch lover.
"I am starting on my watch collection. Watches can be very expensive though, so I'll have to pick very carefully," added Hu.
