Michael Hendry became OneAsia's first champion from New Zealand when he fired a flawless final round at the 2010 Indonesia Open presented by Enjoy Jakarta.
The win was by far the biggest victory of Hendry's career and propelled him to fame as he walked away with first prize from the US$1 million event at the Damai Indah Golf Club. He also climbed nearly 300 spots on the world golf rankings following the week in Jakarta.
Hendry also won the Fiji Open two weeks before and was a back-to-back winner of titles on New Zealand's domestic Tour. He currently leads the money list in New Zealand - an award he claimed in 2009 for the first time.
Hendry started his sporting career in cricket. He played cricket for New Zealand’s under-19 cricket team and later represented Auckland before opting to focus on golf in his early 20s. He turned professional in 2004.
He credits his wife Tara - a marathoner and 'tough as nails' - as his greatest pillar of support.
