Strange tops OneAsia Order of Merit

310x230Scott_Strange_1 Scott Strange (pictured) won the inaugural OneAsia Order of Merit title with a total of US$505,783 after rounding out the season with a joint runner-up finish at the US$1.2 million Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola.

Strange teed off the inaugural OneAsia season in spectacular style in April by earning US$366,660 for winning the US$2.2 million Volvo China Open, co-sanctioned by the European Tour.

The Perth-born 32-year-old shared 12th place in this month’s US$1.2 million Australian Open before earning US$127,125 at the Australian PGA on the Sunshine Coast, where he finished four strokes behind winner Robert Allenby.

Adam Scott, the former world number three, finished second on the Order of Merit with US$274,579 due in large to his impressive victory in the Australian Open at the New South Wales Golf Club.

Allenby finished third on the list with US$247,222, just ahead of Spain’s Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, who earned US$244,440.

Korean Bae Sang-moon finished fifth with US$244,299 after the 23-year-old won the US$800,000 Kolon-Hana Bank Korea Open for the second successive year.

Liang Wenchong also lifted a OneAsia title when he won the US$500,000 Midea China Classic in Guangdong for the first time. The 31-year-old Chinese number one finished 12th in the Order of Merit with US$111,560.

The 2010 OneAsia schedule will feature a minimum of 11 events and will tee off in April.
